Re-create the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition
The Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition of 1905 is one for the history books. Until Cameron goes back in time and then back to the future to recreate it in all of its black and white glory.
During the exposition’s four-month run, it attracted over 1.6 million visitors, and featured exhibits from 21 countries.
Cameron thinks we could outdo ourselves by planning an even bigger Centennial Exposition in the year 2016. Think hot air balloons, horse drawn carriages, inefficient gas lamps, silent motion pictures, and more. This awesome shindig would attract 16 million visitors over fourth months, that’s right- FOUR TIMES THE STATE POPULATION.
While having a four month international bash would significantly benefit our intriguiness, Cameron believes Oregon should remain exclusively for Oregonians. In the immortal words of Tom McCall, “I urge them to come and come many, many times to enjoy the beauty of Oregon. But I also ask them, for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live.”
